Xiaomi has launched a hot and cold version of the Mijia desktop water dispenser. The device has three functions: chilled water, heated water and filtered water.
The gadget can cool up to 4 liters of water to between 5 and 15°C, and the water can stay cool for up to 24 hours, meaning you don’t have to wait for cold water. A refrigeration type compressor is used to quickly cool the water, and an automatic cooling mode is also available.
The dispenser is equipped with a 2100W heating element that heats water from 40 to 95°C in three seconds. In addition, the Mijia Desktop Water Dispenser has a “milk preparation” mode that parents can use to heat their baby’s breast milk to the temperature of your choice.
The device uses a 6-stage water filtration process to remove heavy metals, scale, bacteria and more. Xiaomi recommends replacing the filter once a year, claiming it will cost less than $1 a day.
Stale water is stored in a 1.8L waste water tank, so the water you drink is always fresh. Other safety features include a child lock and a dual UV antimicrobial coating used in the device.
The Mijia Desktop Water Dispenser measures approximately 7.8 x 16.6 x 18.2 inches (199 x 428 x 463mm) and features an OLED screen that displays device settings. You can use the Mijia App to select the mode, adjust the volume and output temperature.
Chinese customers can pre-order the Mijia desktop water dispenser version with hot and cold water for 2,299 yuan (~$361). After the end of the pre-order period, the gadget will be priced at 2,499 yuan (about $392).
